Offerings

Creative therapy brings together transpersonal therapy, expressive arts therapy, inner work and art psychotherapy, all of which I offer as a therapist who integrates creative self-expression with holistic counselling; where we go, what path we take, and any art mediums we may use in therapy is centred around what feels right for you.

My approach is a gentle inward journey, and we travel together at your pace. We move with the creative process to ‘go beyond’ the daily persona or ego to meet your inner wisdom, strengths and the stories we carry over time in our bodies. My work involves supporting you to explore what calls your attention.

  • What calls for our attention often speaks to us in the language of our unconscious: sensations, symbols and metaphors. Creative therapy speaks this language.

Creative therapy invites curiosity, calm and clarity through gentle guided meditation and breathwork to support inner work.

We work together to gently give those parts of ourselves most in need of our care and compassion the chance to tell their story. All is welcome, and we are more than the sum of our parts, systems and stories.

We are an always emerging whole Self in complex relationship with the world around us.

Wherever you are on the mental health continuum, across life transitions and within generations, creative therapy can be used to address a wide range of mental health concerns, and support journeys of self-discovery and personal growth.

Creative Therapy helps when words escape us, or we need more than just words to fully express our stories in the therapeutic space.

We can use various art and nature-based materials to make marks on paper, sculpt using clay, create with found objects and images, or creatively express through movement, sound, poetic language, dialogue and other forms of creative self-expression.

  • A creative therapy session with a primary focus on reconnecting with your innate creativity, creative project or intention to make art in any medium—which includes writing—and to bring it into the world.

This offering may resonate with all practising and non-practising creatives, as well as anyone who is struggling to ‘see’ themselves as creative.

You don’t have to be making art to be an artist.

    Creativity is a birthright.

  • Creative therapy workshop programs with small groups run online via Zoom or in person on Kabi Kabi and Ningy Ningy Country (Redcliffe Peninsula QLD).

Workshops are a wonderful way to experience the benefits of art therapy and groupwork synergy among like-minded people.

    Future Workshops:

If you’re interested in participating in a future group workshop, please get in touch. Group workshop programs will be designed and run based on you and a group’s interest with a minimum of four and maximum of six participants.

The unconscious is a marvellous universe of unseen energies, forces, forms of intelligence—even distinct personalities—that live within us

WHAT TO EXPECT:
1:1 SESSIONS

When we meet—in person or online—you will experience a creative therapy space, or container, held with warmth, deep-listening and compassion, where you are seen as a whole, dynamic and interconnected Self having a human experience.

  • Welcome. If you are a new client, please connect with me so we can arrange a time to meet over the phone.

Your discovery call or phone consultation is free. It’s important for both of us to get to know each other a little before we embark on a therapeutic path, and to discuss the best location for you and your process. A good therapeutic relationship is foundational to your creative therapy experience.

If you would like to meet, please reach out to arrange a discovery call and/or if you have any queries.

  • I know what it feels like to meet with a therapist, and most of us feel a little nervous, so, whether we meet online or in person, it’s important that you feel welcomed, safe and comfortable. What you share with me during our sessions is confidential and kept secure.

After we’ve met over the phone and booked in your first appointment, I’ll send you an intake form to fill in before our first session, which asks a number of questions, including: what brings you to creative therapy, and what are you hoping to bring about with this work?

During our first session, we’ll continue to get to know each other, and, together, begin on a therapeutic path to support your goals, integration and personal growth.

  • Phone consultation: free 15min discovery call so we both get to know each other a little before booking in a session.

1:1 in person or online sessions: $140/60min and $190/90mins.

  • Please give me at least 24hrs notice if you cannot attend our session, so another client has the opportunity to take your spot.

If you don’t show up for our session, you may be charged the full fee, unless you are in an emergency situation or exceptional circumstance.

If you have any questions, please see FAQs below and you are always most welcome to get in touch.

BOOKING LOCATIONS

I can work with you in person or online. My creative therapy space for in person sessions is onboard a classic Island Packet sailing vessel named Vagabelua or we can meet outdoors in nature. When we meet over the phone, or following a session together, we can choose a location that best suits you.

  • Vagabelua is a classic Island Packet yacht, measuring thirty-eight feet with her bowsprit. She will be docked at the marina for the duration of our session. We can work comfortably and privately in the cockpit beneath a large canvas shelter overlooking the water, or down below in a light-filled salon.

You will have comfortable cushioned seating and tables, both in the cockpit and in the salon, as well as a drawing board easel and art-making materials to use onboard Vagabelua.

She is made and fitted out for sailing across oceans in comfort.

  • If you choose to meet outdoors in nature, we can discuss where would be most suitable for you to meet; for example, seated by the roots of old Moreton Bay figs, or we can engage in walking therapy, collecting our art materials from nature, for example, from along the seashore. We have many options on Kabi Kabi (also known as Gubbi Gubbi) and Ningy Ningy Country (Redcliffe Peninsula, Moreton Bay).

  • Online sessions offer the privacy and comfort of your own space.

I have found—to my continued amazement—that transpersonal art therapy is entirely possible and just as rewarding online.

When a booking is made for an online session, a Zoom link will be automatically generated and sent to your email address.

  • If you would like to work with me in person onboard Vagabelua or outdoors and have accessibility concerns, please contact me so we can meet over the phone and discuss your needs and location options.

We are all just walking each other home

FAQs

What is a creative therapist?

I use the term ‘creative therapist’ because it feels aligned with my therapeutic approach which encompasses transpersonal therapy, expressive arts therapy, somatic therapy, symbol work and art psychotherapy supported by my PhD on meaning-making and creativity.

Do I have to be an artist?

No, the focus is not on creating a finished art product but on what emerges for you in the creative process.

Do I need art supplies?

If we meet in person, I will bring art supplies for you to use in our session. If we work online together, you will need some basic art materials, such as paper and coloured pencils.

What’s the difference between art therapy and making art?

Making art can be a life-giving resource and bring us a sense of curiosity, openness and connection to Self. Creative therapists draw on these qualities as well as the creative process working at deeper levels in the unconscious for insight, healing and wholeness.

Are you a counsellor?

I am a transpersonal creative therapist with specialist interpersonal and counselling skills. Our holistic counselling relationship is foundational to your creative therapy experience.

How many sessions do I need?

If you choose to work with me, you’ll know when it feels right to start, continue, pause and end therapy. It’ll check-in with you along the way.

Do you offer packages?

Yes, I can offer packages of three and six sessions. We can talk about packages when the time is right for you.

Do you offer payment plans?

I work with a sliding scale using the ‘Green Bottle Sliding Scale’ as a guide and reference.

When is your next group workshop?

I design and plan group programs based on interest and a minimum of four participants. If you are interested, please get in touch.
